So, remember when I said my next book would be done by Easter?
And THEN I said it would be published by April 15?
And it’s still not out yet?
Yeah, about that…
I like to consider myself an optimist. Actually, I consider myself scatterbrained, but with a delightful glaze of rosiness that makes it seem like all the random thoughts and actions are somehow going to coalesce into awesome final projects.
In my defense, they sometimes do. Not with any predictable consistency, but it happens.
I graduated high school. And college. And grad school.
I’ve gotten jobs and held on to them for decent stretches of time.
I have a wonderful marriage, and my kids never permanently got lost.
Oh, and I’ve managed to self-publish five books over the past several years. So, I was pretty confident I could do it again.
No, I AM confident I will do it again. Just not quite as fast as I was hoping.
This is not a George R. R. Martin or Patrick Rothfuss situation. I do not like promising a book and then vanishing for ten years while the royalty checks and hate mail roll in.
I am very nearly done with The Borrowed Daughter. It has taken longer than I expected to finalize all the corrections. As of this writing, I am genuinely 95% done (re)writing it. It is a top priority until I finish it. As soon as I’ve sent it to the publisher, I will let you know.
In the meantime, I figured I owe you two things:
An apology for overpromising and underdelivering (Sorry! 😟)
An accurate publication date when I have one
Thank you so much for your support through all this — it is incredibly flattering and humbling to know that anybody cares about this book. I truly hope you discover it was worth the wait.
Keeping us in suspense ...looking forward to reading it!
